Faculty of Engineering Mechanics and Automation (FEMA) was founded by Decision No. 1279 / QĐ-TCCB on 04th July 2005 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).
Faculty of Engineering Mechanics and Automation (FEMA) was founded by Decision No. 1279 / QĐ-TCCB on 04th July 2005 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).

Faculty of Engineering Mechanics and Automation is a training unit of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), VNU Hanoi. It is based on a model of cooperation between the UET and the Institute of Mechanics, Institute of Space Technology, which belong to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, followed by the cooperation between UET and IMI Holding, Ministry of Industry and Trade, on the basis of cooperation agreements signed between leaders of related parties.

Since its inception, the FEMA has received the support of senior leaders: Hanoi VNU's director, the then Prof. Academician. Nguyen Van Dao; President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Prof. Academician. Dang Vu Minh; Along with that is the creativity, dynamism in the direction and implementation of the Principal of UET, Prof.Academician. Nguyen Van Hieu, the next principal is Prof. Nguyen Huu Duc, Former Director of the Institute of Mechanics, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Khiem. During the past 5 years, the Deans of FEMA are: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Khiem; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Anh, respectively.

Faculty of Engineering Mechanics and Automation is a new model, typical of the cooperation of University + Research Institute + Industrial Group in the field of training and scientific research. The most prominent features of this model are: Focused and distributed organization and management in terms of both people and facilities. This is evidenced by: The faculty's professors and staff, including the managerial staff, are managed by different administrative divisions. This force, currently in 03 forms (organic, school, concurrently, the academy, contracted part-time labor with the school, guest lecturer, other training and research units, contracted lecture with the school). Facilities (classrooms, laboratories, practice rooms, etc.) are also managed by different administrative units.

In recent years, the FEMA has constantly improved the quality of its activities in all aspects with the aim of becoming a unit of training, research and development of high-quality science and technology, creating elite products which meet the increasing demands of the country. In 2005, the FEMA was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit of the President of VNU for its achievements in the process of 5 years of construction and development (2005-2010).

Up to now, nearly 15 years of construction and development, in spite of modest achivements, FEMA has initially created a foothold and belief in the University and society. The road ahead is very long, challenging and full of responsibilities, requiring the staff of the FEMA to learn, create and strive more for the development of the Faculty, contributing to the stability and development of the University.
